New business district for the city underway

 

Invest in Nottingham are working with a group of developers in the Southside area of the city to create a new business district for Nottingham. The marketing campaign will help raise the profile of the individual office and mixed use schemes surrounding the train station.

Green-tech companies thrive in Nottingham

 

Invest in Nottingham are working with local companies and partners involved in the Environmental Technologies Sector to create a new marketing campaign to promote Nottingham as a leading sustainable business location.

A new Nottingham Science City magazine has been produced highlighting key companies in Nottinghamshire’s growing environmental sector.

Go ahead for £100m science MediPark

 

A £100m business park for science and medical-related companies has been given the go ahead by Nottingham City Council.

The MediPark scheme would provide accommodation for up to 200 firms on a site next to Queen’s Medical Centre.

Expo Real - Munich, 5 - 7 October, 2009

 

Invest in Nottingham attended the Expo Real exhibition in Munich. The event helped to further links with Nottingham’s sister city of Karlsruhe. A series of meetings were held with companies and international investment consultants to identify and target those looking for a UK base.

 

Mobius Life sciences Fund launched to finance early stage biotech firms

 

The Mobius Life Sciences Fund, an investment fund focused on providing seed finance for life science companies, was launched recently. The fund is designed to fill the gap in early-stage venture funding for a sector that is notoriously high risk and money intensive.

Nottingham Science Park success

 

The £50m No.1 Nottingham Science Park project by specialist regeneration developer Blueprint has been nationally recognised as the premier example of sustainable development on a UK science park. It has won the UK Science Park Association award for innovative design of a building demonstrating environmental sustainability.

Nottingham A-level results 2009

 

Excellent A-level results have been achieved once again for Nottingham Schools. This year’s results exceed last year’s figures and remain above the national average of 97.5%.

The University of Nottingham receives prestigious British Business Award

 

The University of Nottingham Ningbo, China has received more international recognition for sustainability and cutting-edge architecture - to complement the two awards it has already received in 2009. The University has been nominated for a prestigious British Business Award for its outstanding work on environmental sustainability in China.

 

Sat Bains is UK’s fourth best restaurant

 

Nottingham’s only Michelin starred restaurant has been named as the fourth best in the country.

Restaurant Sat Bains with Rooms, in Old Lenton Lane, was recognised at Restaurant Magazines National Restaurant Awards.

The University of Nottingham launched its new-look website last week, with a clean and simple design, making it even easier for visitors to navigate.

Roses Design Awards, 23 October

 

The Roses Design Awards in conjunction with Invest in Nottingham is coming to Nottingham for the first time ever. Over 400 ‘creatives’ are expected to attend the event. Awards cover a range of graphic and architectural categories the new category in 2009 - Best Lighting Design.

Game City Nottingham, 27 - 31 October

 

GameCity is the UK’s best-loved gaming event, attracting international speakers like Alexei Pajitnov, creator of Tetris and Keita Takahashi, the man behind the Katamari Damacy phenomenon, as well as exclusive game premieres, debates in Indian restaurants and amazing music events. A five-day festival which takes gaming out into the streets, shops and cinemas of Nottingham, it’s about finding out what a videogame festival could be.
